Performance Characteristics of UHMWPE Sheets

1. Abrasion resistance

The wear resistance of UHMWPE is the highest in plastic, and exceeds that of some metals, the mortar wear index of UHMWPE is only 1/5 of PA66, 1/10 of PE and PVC, and compared with metal, it is 1/7 of carbon steel and l/27 of brass.

2. Impact resistance

The impact strength of UHMWPE is about 2 times that of impact-resistant PC, 5 times that of ABS, and more than 10 times that of POM and PBTP.

3. Self-lubrication

UHMWPE has a friction coefficient of (0.05~0.11) and excellent self-lubrication. It is second only to self-lubricating PTFE in lubricant-free conditions, and when it works in a sliding or rotating form, it is better lubricating than steel and brass with added lubricating oil.

4. Chemical resistance

UHMWPE has excellent chemical resistance.

5. Impact energy absorption

UHMWPE has excellent impact energy absorption, and the impact energy absorption value is very high among all plastics, so the noise damping is very good, and it has excellent sound attenuation effect.

6. Non-stickiness

The surface suction force of UHMWPE is very weak, and its anti-adhesion ability is second only to PTEE with good non-stick ability in plastics, so the surface of the product is not easy to adhere to other materials.

7. Hydrophobic

The water absorption rate of UHMWPE is very low, generally less than 0.01%, which is only 1% of PA6.
