Construction Machinery Outrigger Pad

Construction Machinery Outrigger Pad

Address two key issues:
Pressure distribution
Protecting the equipment and the ground

Product Introduction

Products Description

Construction machinery outrigger pads are made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) through a molding or extrusion process to create high-strength plates. They are placed underneath the outriggers of construction machinery to address two key issues:

  1. Pressure distribution: This prevents the outriggers from collapsing due to their limited contact area, especially on soft surfaces such as construction sites and farmland.
  2. Protecting the equipment and the ground: This prevents the metal ends of the outriggers from rubbing against the ground, potentially causing damage, and protects the outriggers from scratches caused by ground debris and sharp objects.

Instructions

Selecting Specifications

Select a pad of appropriate thickness and area based on the maximum outrigger reaction force of the construction machinery. For example, a 20-ton crane should use a pad of at least 500mm x 500mm x 30mm.

Inspecting the Pad

Before use, the operator must confirm that the pad is free of cracks, severe wear, and has a clear anti-slip texture. If damaged, replace it immediately. Do not use pads that pose a safety hazard.

Proper Laying

Place the pad on a hard, flat surface. If the surface is soft, lay down gravel or steel plates first to prevent the pad from sinking. Do not use on sloped or uneven surfaces. Align the construction machinery's outriggers vertically with the center of the pad, ensuring that the outriggers are fully seated on the pad. Do not allow the edges of the outriggers to extend beyond the pad to prevent localized stress and breakage.

Controlling the Operating Range

During operation, do not overload or violently shake the machine to prevent the outriggers from exerting impact pressure on the pad. Also, do not place debris on the pad. Stow promptly. After the outriggers are stowed, remove the pads smoothly. Do not drag the pads when the outriggers are not fully raised. Clean any dirt, gravel, oil, or other debris from the pads.

Maintenance

Storage
Construction machinery outrigger pads should be stored in a dry, ventilated indoor location or under cover outdoors. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, rain, or high heat sources. When stacking, keep them no higher than 1.5 meters. Place soft cloth or wooden boards between each layer to prevent damage to the anti-slip surface. Do not stack heavy objects, such as rebar or steel pipes, on the pads.

Regular Inspection
Inspect at least once a month, focusing on three areas:

  • Edges and corners: Check for cracks or chips.
  • Surface: Check for severe wear of the anti-slip surface.
  • Thickness: Check for noticeable deformation or thinning.

Minor scratches

Lightly sand any scratches with sandpaper and wipe away any stains with clean water or a neutral detergent. No special treatment is required. If cracks, extensive wear, or deformation occur, discontinue use to prevent the pad from failing and causing the machine to tilt or the ground to collapse.
